Chocolate Almond Buttermilk Cake preview+ recipe!










Grandma Knoch's "Best Chocolate Cake"

2 c. flour
2c sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. water or milk
4 oz. baking chocolate
1/2 cup butter

sift dry goods together. ****You must SIFT!!!
blend all ingredients together.
mix for 3 minutes, high speed.
bake 2 9" layers for 35-40 min or until toothpick comes out clean.
(no temp given! I just put it at 350f and kept a close eye on it, to great effect. the price we pay for old fashioned!)


I just used a french buttercream recipe for the icing. And used food coloring mixed with marzipan.almond paste for the flower decorations!
Also, I whipped up some heavy cream+ real maple syrup for the filling in between layers, with sliced strawberries.
